Empowering Young Learners for a Brighter Future

On Thursday, September 18, 2025, Better You Africa Initiative (BYAI) held its fifth consecutive Back-to-School Outreach, marking another milestone in our ongoing commitment to ensuring that every child, regardless of background has access to quality education and a safe, encouraging learning environment.

The 2025 edition took place at Brigade Cantonment Primary School and 9th Brigade Cantonment Primary School in Lagos State. The outreach brought together students, teachers and volunteers for a day filled with learning, laughter, and hope.

This year’s outreach combined educational support with interactive fun:

- Distribution of School Supplies: Pupils received new school bags, notebooks, pencils, crayons, and other essential supplies, helping them start the term with excitement and confidence.
- Competitions and Fun Learning Activities: Pupils participated in drawing contests and racing competitions, creating an atmosphere of excitement and teamwork.
- Health & Safety Support: Both schools received three fully equipped first aid kits each, as part of BYAI’s “Clean and Safe Classrooms” initiative under our Global Giving project.
- Motivational Talks: Volunteers and teachers engaged the students in short talks about discipline, creativity, and the power of education.
- Volunteer Engagement: Over 15 BYAI volunteers participated in logistics, crowd coordination, and mentoring activities, making the event seamless and memorable.

Impact Highlights:
2 schools reached, 200+ students supported, 6 first aid kits donated, 15+ volunteers mobilized, Countless smiles inspired

The Back-to-School Outreach is one of BYAI’s flagship initiatives under SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 3 (Good Health & Well-being).

The program aims to:
- Support underprivileged students with basic learning tools.
- Encourage school attendance and enthusiasm for learning.
- Provide health and safety materials to promote well-being in schools.
- Foster creativity, confidence, and a sense of community among young learners.

The feedback from teachers, parents, and pupils was overwhelmingly positive. Teachers commended BYAI’s consistency and commitment, while students expressed gratitude and excitement for the support received. The event rekindled the community’s belief in the power of collective action for education.

The Back-to-School Outreach remains a cornerstone of BYAI’s education-focused interventions.

Moving forward, we plan to:
- Expand the outreach to five schools in 2026.
- Partner with local and international sponsors to scale our impact.

We believe that every pencil given, every smile shared, and every kit donated contributes to a stronger future for our children.
